I was working hard during December holiday period while as for most people it is the time to relaxed enjoy the fruits of what they had toiled all through the year sit back enjoy a good time with family and Friends and plan for the future not me i was deep in the northern Uganda bush.
The karamoja & Acholi land: the karamajong of northern Uganda are mostly pastrolistist nomads who value their cattle and AK 47 more than money young bachelors are required to pay 100 herds of cattle to get married thus their are forced to become cattle rustlers which is very rampant in North Eastern part of Uganda their main town Moroto is dusty with no electricity during the day water is a luxury and they only construct houses during rainy season when water is available, the karamajong don't have time to dig pit latrines,so all their towns and settlement camps 'manyatta's' stink of feces.
I spent my Xmas eve in Moroto town went to the local club tried my hand with their ladies but their men were protective, jalousie and violent i had to cut my looses and went back to my military barrack hotel which was very expensive for nothing no shower no breakfast.
on December 25th were on the road trying to find a better town than Moroto on the way we did our work Airtell sites audit with military escort up to Kotido town where after work we settled down for 'Mbuzi choma Kenyan stlye' although the Karamoja land i longed for Kampla the land of beautiful women with big voluptuous behinds.
Finally in Acholi land the hotels had cold showers and electricity Kitigum Gulu & Palabeck not before climbing Mt Nam-Kora for 2 hours that's is when i realized i was out of shape i was sweating and my tongue was out like a dog grasping for air.
The Acholi people are very resilient after 20 years of Joseph Kony's crimes against his people they are trying no regain normalcy although on the road sides there are crosses which mark mass graves every 10 kilometers apart.
But it was an adventure of a life time my new-year was in Kampala club silk i wish i was still in the bush but this time in a favourable town Sironko where the Basoga ladies are very welcoming and beautiful but thieves.
Am back in Nairobi preparing for my next adventure!!!!!!!!
